Documentary Film Production — Fixer

Production Fixer in Israel for Documentary Films

We appoint a coordinator (fixer) to every documentary film production in Israel — the single point of contact who manages crew, logistics, permits and access on the ground.

What Our Fixers Do

While the fixer is with the crew on location, they stay in constant touch with our Tel Aviv office, which provides news alerts, logistical assistance and online research when needed. Our professional Palestinian production team is based in Bethlehem and can provide any production service there.

We also use interview bookers to find the best interviewees for the project, and our fixers work in English, French, German, Arabic, Spanish, Russian and Hebrew.

A Local Fixer Does More Than Translate

For a documentary crew arriving from abroad, the fixer is usually the difference between a smooth shoot and a stalled one. Beyond language, our fixers bring local knowledge of who to approach for access to a site, how far in advance a request needs to go in, and which sensitivities — religious, political or cultural — will shape how a request is received. They negotiate directly with site custodians, local officials and community contacts on the production’s behalf, and know when a polite delay actually means no.

Day to day, the fixer also handles the practical logistics a visiting crew doesn’t have local context for: booking accommodation and vehicles suited to the shoot, coordinating drivers who know the terrain (including West Bank checkpoints and timing), keeping a list of emergency contacts and nearby medical facilities, and managing the schedule so interview subjects, permits and daylight all line up on the same day.

For longer documentary shoots, the fixer also becomes the production’s institutional memory — tracking which contacts responded well, which access requests need to be re-approached differently next time, and how the plan needs to adapt as a story develops over weeks rather than days.

Productions We’ve Fixed For

Our fixers have supported crews producing for Netflix, National Geographic, the BBC and PBS, among many other broadcasters and streamers — often across multi-week shoots involving several fixers working in parallel across different regions of the country.
